A series of notes, usually 7. In music we have many scales and the number of notes in some scales vary.

The most common scale that many will have come across is the C Major/A minor scale, and the difference between Major and minor will be discussed later in this article. The C Major scale is a series of seven notes starting from C and ending on C and A minor starts from A to A.

The reason this scale has seven notes and not eight is because we do not count the first C as 1, rather we count it as 0. The sequence will be as follows:

0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7

C, D, E, F, G, A, B, C

A, B, C, D, E, F, G, A

0 is the home note and is a repeat of the 8th note, instead of counting C as 1, the first C is 0.

This model applies to all Major and minor scales.
